 About Bloom

Since 1970, the American Church has sponsored Bloom Where You’re Planted – How to Live in France. This full day seminar, designed to assist English-speaking newcomers to France, features speakers and/or workshops on various topics from food and wine tasting to health care and general safety, need-to-know subjects, and just plain fun facts about France. Bloom helps with understanding cultural differences, creating a new life in Paris, and getting connected with friends and organizations throughout Paris and the surrounding areas.

The Bloom book, Bloom Where You’re Planted, How to Live in France, will be available on the Bloom day at a cost of 10€ (one is included with each registration at no extra cost). This invaluable book has been updated and reprinted regularly since 1970, and has become the “must have” book for all English-speaking expats in France. Even if you’re an old hand at living in France, you’re bound to learn new things from the Bloom Book. The Bloom Book is always available from the American Church in Paris reception desk, the Sunday Morning welcome table or by mail order, at the regular price of 20€.

Attendance at Bloom includes:

- exciting talks presented by expert speakers
- a light breakfast and strong coffee
- a delicious lunch
- wine and cheese reception
- book signings
- networking opportunities
- a gift bag with give-aways and useful information

What does Bloom 2014 have in store for you?

The morning kicks off with a fascinating look at Parisian architecture and history with author/historian Peter Caine. "Global Mom" Melissa Bradford joins us this year to talk about her many expat experiences and how to make your new life in a new country and culture not just successful but one you will enjoy immensely. We finish the morning session with an entertaining talk by foodie, blogger and author David Lebovitz as he talks about "Unlocking Paris" and his secrets to dealing with this magical but often puzzling city.

At noon we invite you to enjoy a delicious lunch and meet others who, just like you, are here to learn how to thrive and not just survive! There will be ample time for networking and visiting the extensive bookstore, along with an author book signing, courtesy of WH Smith. At the same time you can stop by the Exhibit Hall to explore a variety of social, service and business organizations here to provide you with valuable information.

The afternoon consists of nine break-out sessions. Each registrant can chose to attend three seminars based on his or her interest. The seminars and speakers have been carefully selected for your benefit and we hope you will find them enjoyable and informative.

We end the day with a "Wine Down" and toast your new life in Paris! Enjoy one of the many pleasures of living in France (the wine!) and mingle with new friends while you lean about the various regions of La Belle France and her infamous wines and cheeses. Cheers!

Of course, let us not forget our youngest attendees! While you learn and explore all that Paris has to offer you and your family, your children will be well taken care of in our Bloom Kids program, which takes place from 9h to 18h amongst our professional and always-smilling Bloom Kids team. You maybe surprised at pick up time that your children are already speaking the language and tasting local food! Bloom Kids has been one of the most successful and beloved parts of Bloom for many years.
