Atelier Concerts

Sunday Concert Series - 17h00 - Free admission

Originating in Left Bank studios in 1895, The Atelier Concert Series became part of the cultural activities at the American Church in Paris during the early 1930s. These concerts provide a performance opportunity in Paris for talented musicians of all nationalities.

A different program is offered each Sunday evening at 17h00, September through November and January through June. There is no admission fee, but a free-will offering is taken at the door to support the series.

To receive detailed programs, updates and other announcements about this series, send a message to our Music Director and put “Atelier Mailing” in the subject line. All mailings are done in blind copy and for this purpose only.

This cosmopolitan program features musical compositions from selected quarters of the world. As guests from California, our own varied cultural backgrounds (Julia hailing from Minnesota and Dmitry from Moscow) inform and enhance our perspectives on music-making. This program showcases musical cultures of a variety of national styles: from the charming suite by the Englishman Paul Reade, adapted from a score written for a TV show, to the rich neo-Romantic French sonata by Marc Eychenne (a true masterwork, ripe for rediscovery!), moving along to a piece by the Los Angeles based American composer Frank Campo, then segueing to the early twentieth-century Russia as represented by Scriabin and Shostakovich, followed by the Argentinian tango, ending up with a Hungarian klezmer work!

Atelier Concert — Sunday, 9 June 2013 at 17h00

Sophie Ayako GIRARD violin, Lauren VAN KEMPEN cello, Charlotte PAILHES piano

Atelier Concert — Sunday, 16 June 2013 at 17h00
