During the Sanctuary Renovation from February 3 to Easter, all children are meeting in the Thurber Room starting at 11:00.
There will be no children's time in worship until remodeling is finished!
After Easter, check the schedule to find locations for each class
according to school grade level.
The American Church places a high priority on its ministry to children. Our Church School Program aims to provide children with a warm and nurturing atmosphere where they can acquire building blocks for their faith through age-appropriate stories and activities. With stories, songs, Scripture study, and other activities, children will meet Biblical characters and discover the many ways in which God can be at work in our lives. We are blessed to have a large and dedicated teaching staff of volunteers (parents and others) whose goal is to make learning fun and to affirm the uniqueness and special gifts of each child. Parents are welcome to stay with their children in class if English language comprehension is an issue. Please pick up your children in their classrooms following the service and prior to going to coffee hour.
Children ages 3 and older are expected to come into the worship service and to sit with their families until the Children's Time. Following the Children's Story, they will leave for their classes with their teachers. Please pick your child up immediately after the service and before you stop for coffee.
An offering is collected in each class. This is a way of teaching stewardship from an early age and also encourages children to share. Please give your child a coin or two each week so they can participate. If he or she receives an allowance, you might use this opportunity to discuss with them an appropriate level of giving. The Church School offering will be designated for a specific project. This past year it was divided between an orphanage and our Habitat For Humanity project.

- New Bible Basics for Kids Class
Preschool to Fifth Grade
Sundays, 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
The Bible Basics Class aims to give a simple theme for each book of the Bible and to help kids memorize a variety of Bible verses. This year we're focusing on the Old Testament. The Bible Basics class gives kids a framework which they can use to build upon and better understand the Bible stories that they learn at the 11:00 lesson. Children who follow the Bible Basics course may work towards "earning" a free Bible at the end of the program.
