We give, because God has given so much to us! How do we receive the blessings God desires for us, and learn to share those blessings? How and in what ways does a Christian faithfully and responsibly give? The most radical teaching in the Old Testament on giving is found in Malachi 3:10: "Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing." The word blessing in the Hebrew is b'rakha, and has the same root as the word for "knee." The rabbis remind us that in order to receive and to give a blessing you must be on your knees!
Please prayerfully consider how God is calling you to give of your time, talent and money in order to support the ministry and mission of the American Church in Paris. Together we will give joyful blessings to this city and the world!

How can I make a financial pledge?
What is "the tithe" and how much should I give of my financial resources?
The apostle Paul says famously that "God loves a cheerful giver." This word "cheerful" in the Greek is hilaron, which is the root of the English word "hilarious." Giving is not always funny, but should proceed from the deep joy of knowing first God's generous grace and love. The tithe, a ten percent gift of the first fruits, is like training wheels for faithful giving. Faithful stewardship requires planning and practice and can feel like a duty at times, but should always result in joyful, generative blessing to the giver and to those who receive. Part of the blessing of stewardship is learning to let go in order to receive!
What is a steward and how do I become a steward of ACP?
The New Testament Greek word for "steward," oikonomos, is a combination of the word for house (oikos) and law (nomos). In other words, a steward is a house manager, and in the New Testament was used to describe a servant who managed the affairs of a family. In the church we believe that we are all members of the household of God, and each has received gifts from God's infinite love. So we are called to be faithful stewards of the riches of Christ's love, and to bless one another in the church and in the larger community where God has called the church to be a blessing.
